How To Make Roasted Beef Bone Broth + How It’s Helping Me Heal! {Slow-Cooker & Pressure Cooker Instructions}

Bone broth, y’all.

I know the concept isn’t a new one. Simmer bones with veggies and herbs in order to create a gloriously flavorful and rich liquid. People have been doing it for ages. Chefs make it daily. My grandparents never wasted anything. Chicken or turkey bones were always made into soup. Ox tails were turned into soup. You guys… I ate a lot of soup. But, even though I knew that I could make my own broth, I never did. I’d buy a box or a can, or a box of cans of chicken stock. Leftover bones were always thrown out. It wasn’t until I was in my late twenties (29 to be exact) and in the middle of a full blown health crisis that I started to make my own. […]

Orange + Cranberry Crock-Pot Short Ribs {Gluten-Free & Paleo}

Quick! Before winter decides to scoot off and make way for spring, let’s enjoy some seriously comforting crock-pot action. Let’s throw some short ribs into a crock-pot and cook them until they are wobbly and tender. This is what winters are made for. Well, this and central heating, fireplaces, practical yet unattractive footwear, fleece, and big puffy marshmallow coats. It’s also for sunny brisk walks and trying to steal oranges from your neighbor’s yard. How many pieces of citrus do you think I could conceal under a big puffy marshmallow coat? Shhhh…

Slow-Cooker Turkey & Mushroom Soup With Ginger & Kombu

Today is the day after the holiday one might refer to as “Eatsgiving”.

And, if you’re like me and have a mountain of leftovers in your fridge. you most likely have been playing the part of “The Glutton” in a motion picture sequel known as “Thanksgiving Take Two: Who’s The Turkey Now?”  This is a movie that takes place in your own living room on the couch with a plate that’s filled up with bird and gravy and stuffing and veggies and ALL THE THINGS. No cameras are present. Just a pair of sweatpants and some shameless crumbs on your shirt from that second piece of leftover pie. Who are we kidding? It’s your third piece. You mindlessly ate an entire piece of pie as a snack while making up a batch of broth with your turkey bones. You’re nothing if not resourceful. Also, every time I’m saying “you” or “you’re” know that I’m definitely talking about me. Yes. I’ve thrice pie-ed. Also, the plot of this movie is a little thin—unlike the gravy in my mouth corners. Slow-Cooker Chicken & Pumpkin Curry With Apple, Sweet Potatoes & Spinach {Gluten-Free & Paleo}

My crock-pot has been seeing a lot of action this fall. We’ve made a WHOLE chicken smothered with hard cider gravy. We’ve made these Soy & Ginger Ribs. I showed you how to use your crock-pot to make your very own chicken broth from scratch. Heck, we’ve even curry-ed in a hurry before.  Needless to say, I consider this appliance my friend. Except for that one time that it overcooked a pot roast to the point of inedibility. That night it wasn’t my friend. But, like… every other time. We’re friendly. Like, if it was a person, we’d probably have matching outfits and stay up late braiding each other’s hair. Something like that. […]
